Berkmann Wine Cellars are proud to be the largest family owned and family-run wine importer in the UK. We’ve been selling premium wine to restaurants since 1964 and our expertise has grown along with our portfolio of award winning wines from around the world including Antinori, Ridge and Vega Sicilia. The wineries we represent are like us – progressive and fiercely independent – and we proudly supply their wines to our ever growing customer base across the UK’s leading restaurants and retailers.
To help further our success and accomplishments, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about wine and its provenance, can live and tell the stories behind the labels and who also hold the commercial understanding and capability to drive profit.
This is a challenging but very rewarding role and therefore you must be tenacious and entrepreneurial. You will be managing customer expectations, implementing Marketing-derived activity plans and hosting tastings, all with a view to building a portfolio of customers, who like us, love and can appreciate good wine. There will be sales targets to hit for which we offer a generous remuneration package in return and have a great company ethos.
Prime responsibilities:
- Achieve agreed sales budgets for volume, value and profit margin for every listing
- Add new profitable business without seriously compromising sales in other sectors
- Build business relationships between BWC and all management levels of the designated account base.
- Provide forecasting accuracy / feedback to aid logistics where necessary.
- Develop a productive working relationship with Marketing, Logistics & other back office departments
- Manage pricing, promotional expenditure and profitability for all designated accounts
- Champion all discussions within BWC to ensure relationships between customer, producer & BWC are cordial and beneficial to all parties
- Manage & use customer data to ensure stock levels and sales are optimised
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experienced in handling on trade customers is essential.
- A strong background in wine and education to WSET 2.
- Experience of selling luxury brands advantageous.
- Experience working with Brand Owners and strategic brand development.
- Practical knowledge of using and interpreting Market data [e.g. AC Nielsen data and TGI]
If you are a team player, have demonstrable on-trade wine sales experience and hold a WSET Level 2 qualification or higher and have high level computer literacy in the Word, Excel and PowerPoint then we want to hear from you!
