Meet the Women in Wine at Berkmann Wine Cellars

We have the pleasure of working with some great women in wine at Berkmann Wine Cellars from Wine Makers to Ambassadors. Their contribution to the wine industry is commendable and they are paving the way for future generations looking to enter into this wonderful industry. Sarah Crowe Winemaker at Yarra Yering

Yarra Valley, Australia

Growing up in Wollongong, Sydney, Australia Sarah entered the wine industry in her Twenties after studying horticulture and travelling Europe for 6 months. Sitting on a hill in France drinking a beer she through maybe she could work in a vineyard. Starting a successful career in the Hunter Valley, Sarah went on to continue her studies in Viticulture and in 2013 joined Yarra Yering.

Did you know? Sarah was recently named James Halliday’s 2017 Winemaker of the Year, making Sarah the first woman to receive this award.

Angela Maculan, Ambassador at Maculan Wine

Veneto, Italy

The face of Maculan, Angela’s role takes her all around the world looking after public relations for the family owned company.  When Angela is back in the winery she is working alongside her father hosting guests, planning events. Angela also works in the heart of the winery providing input and ideas on the blends and the wine making processes.

Did you know? Since April 2016, Angela is the President of the Seminario Permanente Luigi Veronelli a prominent society in Italy promoting agriculture, wine and food.

Andrea Leon Iriarte, Technical Director & Winemaker for Lapostolle Wines

Santa Cruz, Chile

With a lifelong passion for wine Andrea has had an adventurous and successful career having lived and worked in the USA, Europe and New Zealand before returning to Chile. Andrea studied in an Agriculture Engineering program at Catholic University of Santiago where she double-majored in Economics and Oenology and Viticulture. Andrea has gone from strength to strength at Lapostolle starting as a wine maker for Clos Apalta, then promoted to Communications Director and in 2017 promoted to oversee all Lapostolle wines as Technical Director.

Ilaria Felluga, 6th generation Winemaker of Marco Felluga’s Winemakers

Friuli, Italy

Currently studying at University Viticolture and Oenology in Udine, she is in training to join the family business. Her passion for working in the winery is driven by environmental sustainability, Ilaria say’s

“We are very respectful of our land and traditions, always trying to improve ourselves. Because of this we are trying to be sustainable throughout our team, from vineyards to the cellar. Following the project of the Ministry of Environment we will soon be granted a certificate VIVA (Sustainability in Viticolture in Italy). Our challenge is to protect our planet, for us and for the next generations.”
