Events and Trips Manager

We are looking to recruit within our head office in Brewery Rd, North London, an Events and Trips Manager, who will co-ordinate our trade tastings, company and brand events and winery visits.

A prime responsibility will be to ensure that Berkmann Wine Cellars’ core values and those of the wineries that we represent are brought to life in an engaging and convincing manner.

Working within our marketing team and across all business divisions, the Events and Trips Manager will be responsible for planning, budgeting and delivering a selection of trade events throughout the calendar year, promoting both Berkmann Wine Cellars and the agencies that we represent; generating press coverage and securing trade attendance. Alongside these events, the role will also involve co-ordinating a calendar of trips and vineyard visits with our customers. This will involve drawing up a pre-designed selection of visits with the Brand Management Team as well as creating bespoke and tailor-made trips when required.

This is a wonderful opportunity for any aspiring Events Manager, either with existing experience in the wine trade or with a genuine desire to transition into this exciting and rewarding sector. The applicant should have a genuine interest in and empathy for wine and will be comfortable developing relationships both internally, and also with our brand owners and principals. The applicant must be willing to travel locally, nationally and internationally and some evening and weekend work may be required.

Sales Account Manager (Scotland)

In order to meet our strategic expansion plans, we are seeking to appoint a Sales Account Manager to work in a dynamic and commercial environment covering Scotland (East). There may be some business that we can pass onto you, but primarily you will need to identify and seek out profitable sales opportunities and target new accounts within your designated region. The successful applicant will live in or around (and will have extensive knowledge of) their own geographical area.

This position requires the delivery of sales in order to achieve gross profit targets; increase prominence and visibility of key agency wines whilst working towards increasing Berkmann’s profile within the on-trade sector. 

You will have the following skills: 

-WSET qualified, or a proven knowledge of wine

-Demonstrate a full understanding of the sales environment and how to succeed therein.

-A driven personality and knowledge of the ‘on-trade’ industry. 

-Analytical and numerate with attention to detail. 

-The ability to tailor a detailed price proposal and write a balanced wine list.

-Excellent interpersonal skills

-Ability to communicate with confidence both internally and externally

-A passion for our products, our aims and customer service

-Computer literate, using Word and Excel.

Supply Chain Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Manager who has previously worked within the drinks sector.  The role will be located in our head office in Brewery Rd, North London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the wider operational team, by delivering a consistent high level of product availability across all locations whilst controlling stock holding, in order to ensure we have optimum cover in line with budgetary expectation.  The role holder will have full responsibility for the day to day management of our 3rd party (3PL) service providers and will lead and manage a team of supply chain professionals on a daily basis. The position is responsible for all aspects of the wine and spirits portfolio in terms of product availability, stock replenishment, stock holding, forecast planning and ensuring our associated costs are controlled and optimised.  The role involves working and developing relationships with internal teams (e.g. purchasing, marketing, customer services, account manager and wider operational teams), in addition to external teams (e.g. our diverse supply base and the end customer) in order to improve performance. The post holder will also support the Head of Operations when necessary.

The successful candidate will be a self-starting, proactive and hands-on operator who thrives in a dynamic and sales lead environment. Good organisational and time management skills are a must along with sound forward planning, in order to consistently perform under time pressure and meet internal and external deadlines.   The applicant must be willing to travel locally and nationally if required, some weekend work may be required, particularly at key seasonal peaks of the year.

Responsibilities

-Lead, motivate and develop others within the total supply chain team with a good eye for detail in order to manage and prioritise workloads which meet required deadlines without compromising on performance;

-Oversee the wine, spirit and point of sale portfolio ensuring all KPI’s are achieved / exceeded regularly by the total team;

-Deal with all daily stock queries / issues swiftly with pro-active resolution and communication;

-Maintain and develop new processes to ensure optimal stock control is achieved;

-Work closely with our supplier base to ensure that stock is shipped within agreed timescales, addressing poor performance and ensuring goods are shipped in the most cost effective way;

-Authorise supplier invoices and purchase orders;

-Conduct regular supplier meetings and 3rd party performance reviews;

-Monitor and analyse daily and future stock level requirements;

-Forecast stock requirements covering seasonal and promotional periods;

-Manage reduction of over stocked lines and old vintages;

-Creation of key agency suppliers depletion / shipment plans and maintain / monitor these throughout the year;

-Ensure sufficient stock for advertising and promotions versus budget

Skills and Experience

-To have ideally worked within the drinks sector with significant experience of being in a similar or team leader role 

-End to end supply chain experience is essential

-Must be highly computer literate, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel plus Power Point and Word;

-Keen attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to make key decisions in order to support the smooth day to day running of the supply chain team;

-Strong knowledge of working with freight forwarders;

-Strong knowledge of UK customs requirements and regulations

Customer Services Executive

In the run up to our busy Christmas season we are looking to recruit a full-time temporary Customer Services Executive based in our head office on Brewery Road, North London.  

You must be a self-starting, proactive and hands-on operator that thrives in a fast paced environment. Strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, time management and process driven skills are a must.  You will be a key member within the overall invoicing / customer service team working to assist in the smooth organised running of the operation. You will ensure that all orders are captured and are 100% accurate at all times whilst delivering excellent customer service. 

You will be comfortable developing relationships with our internal and external customers, warehouse teams, customer delivery drivers and all other relevant departments across Berkmann Wine Cellars, to ensure we are all delivering exceptional service at all times.

The successful candidate will hold the below skills and experience:

  • Excellent keyboard skills and not be afraid to learn new computer processes.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and organisational skills
  • Have the ability to work closely with your team members to meet daily deadlines
  • Have problem solving skills with the ability to work proactively with other departments
  • Have an excellent knowledge of customer requirements and expectations
  • Be computer literate, using Microsoft word and excel

Working hours - 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
